What is the telc exam B2?

The telc exam B2 is an exam for those of you who have general knowledge of German on an advanced level and who have to show a sufficient understanding of German for university or a job.

What can I do at the level of telc B2?

It’s now clear that your previous work was worth the effort! You have studied hard and can grasp the German grammar quite well. At the level telc B2 you can talk about a wide range of topics clearly and in detail. You can understand the main content of complex texts as well as abstract topics, and due to your broad vocabulary, you can understand complex connections in your personal area of expertise. You also know how to negotiate and debate convincingly and you can take up a position on a current topic. Conversations with native speakers run smoothly and without strain on either side. Even at the bar you can now have spontaneous talks at a high level!

Who should take the telc exam B2?

No matter if for work or university, the telc exam B2 is recognised worldwide and is a valued proof of your German language proficiency for employers and educational facilities (which is sometimes required as part of your application). This exam is a requirement in many countries for the study of German Philology. Other study programmes in German speaking countries may have different language requirements you need to meet – speakeasy offers telc language exams for all levels.

Please note that exam registration is only possible until 13pm on the Thursday 2 weeks prior to your exam. For example, if your exam is on a Friday, then the deadline to register is 15 days before your exam; if your exam is on a Saturday, then the deadline to register is 16 days before your exam.

If there are free spots, late registration is also possible up to 36 hours before the examination date. For this there is a Late Registration Fee of 30€.

When can I take the telc exam B2?

You can take the oral and the written part of the telc exam B2 on the same day. The exam day is on a Friday or Saturday. The results are usually available after approx. six weeks. The exact dates and prices of the exam are available here.

How can I prepare for the telc exam B2?

A specific preparation for the exam format is possible in our online exam preparation courses – these are already part of the package you booked when you signed up to take the exam! Your preparation course takes place in a virtual classroom on four appointments before your exam day. During these appointments, you will be introduced to the different parts of the exam so that you know exactly what to expect. What do I need to know about exam B2 structure?

There are two parts to the exam: The written part, lasting 2 hours and 20 minutes, assesses your listening and reading comprehension and your writing. The B2 oral exam focusses on your speaking and can take place either on the same day as the written exam or you can book another appointment for the oral exam on another day. For this part of the exam, you have 20 minutes to prepare.
