telc Deutsch C1 is an exam for those of you who want to show your advanced knowledge of German or who need the German language in their social or professional life or at university. For a special proof of your university related German knowledge we also offer telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule.
Do you sometimes forget your first language and already dream in German? This is a good sign! At the level of C1 you have already mastered the language to a very advanced level: you can express yourself spontaneously and fluently without having to look noticeably for words, you are familiar with colloquial speech and you know how to adapt your style depending on the situation. In your social and your professional life you can speak clearly, structured and elaborately about a variety of complex topics. You have the knowledge to express connections logically both orally as well as in writing and you generally only make few grammar mistakes. You understand long and demanding texts well and you can also read between the lines. German is no longer a closed book for you!
Do you have to show sufficient knowledge of German for example in the context of a job application? The certificate is proof that you have an advanced understanding of German. If you are planning on applying for university, you can also use this certificate to show that you fulfil the language requirements. If you wish to apply for this exam, you shouldn’t confuse it with the telc C1 Hochschule! The difference between them is that telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule focusses on the university related aspects of German and is aimed at all students who wish to study at a German speaking university. You can take the telc Deutsch C1 exam as many times as you want. If you only passed the oral or only the written part of the exam, you do not have to repeat the exam as a whole. The results are usually available after four to five weeks.
The price for your telc Deutsch C1 exam can be found here. Please register at least 31 days prior to the exam day to avoid a late registration fee of 30€. The time you would want to register by on this 31st day prior to the exam is 12pm, after that the late registration starts.
The telc Deutsch C1 exam usually takes place twice a month, always on a Friday – both parts of the exam (written and oral) can be done on the same day. The results are usually available after approx. six weeks. You can find the exact dates and prices here.

Additionally, your exam comes with an exam preparation course! This course has four appointments – each of which focusses on a different part of the exam. The best part is that this course takes place in a virtual classroom! The entire course is online and one of our great speakeasy teachers will explain more about the exam live for you and the other participants.
Another way to prepare for the exam is to go through a mock exam.
The exam consists of a written and an oral part. The written part lasts for 3 hours and 35 minutes and checks your reading and listening comprehension as well as your writing. The oral part, which assesses your speaking, can take place on the same day as the written exam or on another day. You will have 20 minutes for preparation before the oral exam.
