The telc exam C1 Hochschule is an exam for those of you who have university related knowledge of German at a very advanced level and who have to show proof of their language knowledge for their university application. The exam is also very useful for those of you who already are at university or in an academic profession.
Do thoughts and ideas come to you in German instead of in your first language? This is a sign that you have become an expert in German. You don’t have to look for words – or at least not notably – and you are able to express yourself spontaneously and fluently. You can even adapt your style of speech to different scenarios – e.g. to a work-related situation on the one hand and to talking with friends on the other hand. It is no problem anymore to talk about complex topics either in writing or in speaking and you generally only make few grammar mistakes. At the level C1, German has become a part of you!
Do you want to study at a German university and have to show proof of your language skills? This certificate is the right choice for you. The exam was recognised by the German Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs on February 12th, 2016 and is therefore accepted by all German universities. The telc exam C1 Hochschule is therefore equal to the DSH exam and TestDaF.
One difference to the DSH exam is that you can take telc exam C1 Hochschule as often as you like. If you only passed the oral or only the written part of the exam, you do not have to repeat the exam as a whole.
Another advantage when compared to TestDaF is that the results are available faster. The results are usually available after six weeks.
